Full Circle at Catalyst Kids: A Former Student Returns

Some of the most inspiring journeys begin in childhood and come full circle years later. Valeria is one such story, once a preschooler at our Catalyst Kids, Heideman center, now a Social Services Resource Coordinator on the Education Team.

It was at Heideman that Valeria first met Miss Dominga, a nurturing preschool teacher who helped shape her early love for learning. Today, both work under the Catalyst Kids mission, committed to supporting children and families.

A Teacher’s Perspective

Miss Dominga remembers Valeria as a kind, creative child with a gentle spirit. “She loved to help, and her family even volunteered to rebuild our preschool garden,” she said.

Valeria still holds those early memories close. One moment stands out clearly, a winter classroom performance. “Miss Dominga made the costumes herself using oversized T-shirts and orange-painted noses,” Valeria said. “She always encouraged us to share our ideas and made us feel confident and creative.”

The classroom was a space of color, creativity, and hands-on experiences. “We’d shake the photos with excitement, waiting for the images to appear,” Valeria recalled, remembering the joy of watching Polaroid pictures come to life.

Miss Dominga continues to find joy in these early moments of discovery. “The best part of being a teacher is seeing kids smile while they explore the classroom. Every day is a chance to grow together,” she said.

A Foundation That Stays With You

When Valeria started preschool, Spanish was her first language. “She translated for me at first and then helped me practice,” Valeria said. “She made reading fun and reminded me that learning takes time, but it’s something you carry forever.”

That encouragement made a lasting impact. Years later, Valeria rejoined Catalyst Kids, this time, as a team member committed to empowering others. “When I joined Catalyst Kids, it felt like everything came full circle,” she said. “I wanted to give children the same experience that inspired me.”

Learning about her former student’s return, Miss Dominga was touched. “Hearing Valeria’s kind words touched my heart,” she said. “It motivates me to keep making a difference in children’s lives.”

A Story of Connection and Continuity

Valeria and Miss Dominga’s story is a testament to the power of early education, and the lifelong relationships it can foster. Their shared journey, from classroom to colleagues, reflects the heart of what Catalyst Kids strives to create: environments where children are supported, inspired, and set on paths toward meaningful futures.
