STEM activities for the whole family, inspired by Spring

The weather’s warming. California’s poppies are in full bloom. The hills are still green and the night’s still crisp. Spring is a season of bloom, growth, a building up to the warmth of summer. It’s also a great time to get back outside and have the family learn together while embracing nature.
We’ve put together a list of a few great STEM activities that are inspired by Spring and are fun for the whole family.
SCIENCE learning activities:
With flowers blooming left and right, dissecting a flower is an accessible and simple activity that allows the whole family to get hands-on with the science of flowers. The Learning Hypothesis has a great activity.

TECHNOLOGY learning activities:
Static electricity – pretty cool regardless of how annoying it can be when you’re the victim of the shock. This activity from I Heart Crafty Things provides a lesson on static electricity that includes paper butterfly wings.
